Gossip Girl meets Lady Gaga? Nah

So there’s been some murmur on the net regarding the Chace lookalike in Gaga’s Poker Face MV, and so I thought I’d post a close shot of the video, and you can all decide.

Fashion! Lady GaGa!

Went to see Confessions of a Shopaholic yesterday, and very surprisingly, most of the songs are captivating and worth listening to (that is, if you have a high pop tolerance). Below is Fashion by Lady Gaga, yay for new song!

Well, if you can’t understand what I meant by the headline, then maybe you shouldn’t be reading this blog, after all.

Single, alone, in one of the most populated city with the most desperate people, on Valentines day, while in one’s prime is, well, not a very good feeling. For the record, I just had three shots of 70 proof vodka, life is good, or fucked, depending.

Whatever happened to my weekend? First the Colombian hottie thought on Thursday that he isn’t ready to step into a relationship, and then we have the last night’s good friend’s “I don’t wanna dance like that.” Timothy is a Cornellian visiting his friend here, who happens to live in my dorm. After the not so awesome night last night, where I was the only guy out of the 20 or so people that I went to the Columbia dance with not making with anyone in particular by the end of the dance, the last thread which breaks the camel’s back finally came in. I stood outside Timothy’s friend’s room for a good five minutes hearing the noises from inside, only when I rang the doorbell did they all go silent and pretend no one’s there. I mean, seriously? So there goes the origin of three vodka. Well, at least I can still type, right?

Gone with the old, in with… the new?

JuicyCampus. There, I said it. It is one of those things that you don’t forget after one visit. I’m happy to inform you that the site has been shut down (for reasons unknown), and in replacement we got CollegeACB. Nope, they just won’t die.

What is the point of a nutritionist…

… in a nation where less than a normal population is actually obese? Is there a use for us if the said nation already does healthy eating?

Well what do you know…

We all have moments in our lives when something from the past suddenly reappeared in front of our eyes again, but with every bit of clarity that we wished such said thing had in the past. Today’s haunting past for me is, ex-summer school love(?). It wasn’t until I saw that this said person is “In a relationship” today on my newsfeed did it struck me with more force than ever. It seems like everything decide to really start ever since Chinese New Year. Yes, I believe every iddy bit of it, as much as some people (re: senior yr english teacher) claim it as a false system of trickery.

Windows on the Square

I would go as far as to say “even better than the West 4th Starbucks.” Pless Hall first floor lounge, best of all places for people watching!

Awesome New Word of 2009

Saddleback
ˈsadl bak (verb)
Either
“gay anal sex with a condom (the opposite of barebacking)” or “a term for the phenomenon of Christian teens engaging in unprotected anal sex in order to preserve their virginities.”

Happy 牛 Year!

I don’t think any of you will get it, but here in English: Happy Ox Year (why ox and not cow I do not know, there’s no such discrimination in the Chinese text)

Off with the rat, on with the Ox!

Out with the rat, on with the Ox!

Mercer Kitchen – Let them eat air

So tonight I decided to take advantage of Restaurant Week and try out Mercer Kitchen, one of the many Jean George’s upscale (seemed like it) restaurants in the city. For a short summary, I would give the whole experience 6.5/10.

For starters, the crowd. Why yes when I looked on Open Table it said casual but everyone (of course, I should’ve known better) there are like, well, models. And while I don’t want to stick with the model stereotype, it really does hold true to some degree, and it seems like the place is more of a model’s regular den than a dining location.

The decor, on the other hand, is impeccable. So impeccable, in fact, that I couldn’t find the damn restaurant. I was wondering between the corner of Mercer and the J. Crew on Prince St. before finally laying my eyes on Mercer Kitchen with its black curtains. Everything inside is your New York chic with Italian (or appear to be) furniture and the modern touch.

I’m quite touched by the service, although the bus boys all appear to be fairly reluctant with their duties, but waiters are all considerably polite (as they should be). One major let down though. I just checked my receipt and it appears that Mercer Kitchen already charged me a whopping 20% of gratuity on the check, and the waiter did not notify me that even though she had a clear knowledge that I was in a rush, in which case I left another extra 20%… in another word, I paid almost a 50% tip.

Now, to the food. I ordered the raw tuna pizza with wasabi cheese for appetizer, roasted chicken for entree, and almond cake for dessert. The pizza was nice, but really isn’t anything that I would rave about. The dough lacked aroma and flavor, and I tasted mint at one moment when I was finishing my pizza, but I wonder what exactly is the point of using so little of one spice when you know it’ll be overpowered by another.(in this case, the wasabi) The entree lacked any speciality. The chicken and the plate as a whole looked delicious, yes, but was nothing special. Worse yet, even though the flavor was alright, the chicken tasted mushi. No, not dry, mushi. Seriously, I could probably have done a better job at roasting the chicken than they did with the chicken that I ate. I did file my complain though, and they took it very seriously (had some guy from the kitchen to come out and talk to me) +1 for service, still -1 for food. I have yet to try the almond cake, but I’ll report right back when I do.

The cake appears to have been baked 5 minutes too long, and I can barely taste the almond that’s supposed to be in the cake. True, it might’ve been better if I ate the cake when they served it, but like the upper part of the cake is just like this hard chewy flour crap that I don’t think I should’ve paid all that money for. What a lost cause.
